The effects are still limited. This is also because, although the UK has formally exited, it continues to apply EU rules. However, this transition phase will end at the end of 2020. From January 1, 2021, the paths will separate definitively. There is supposed to be an agreement by then that regulates the future relations between the United Kingdom and the EU. However, whether a common ground can actually be found within a few months is doubtful. And the effects of Brexit are also being felt by Amazon FBA businesses that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sellerlogic.com\/en\/blog\/amazon-international-verkaufen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sell internationally<\/a> \u2013 both British and those from the EU.<\/p><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-273749-identifier\">No inventory transfers after Brexit: Amazon FBA stops transfers<\/h2><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-56787-identifier\">Effective January 1, 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/sellercentral.amazon.co.uk\/gp\/help\/external\/9KF67HWNN2FQ2NJ#:~:text=EU customs border%3A-,Pan%2DEuropean FBA inventory transfers will stop between the UK,across the UK%2DEU border.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Amazon will stop all inventory transfers within the Pan EU program<\/a>. This could mean that not only British sellers may lose access to the European Amazon marketplaces, but also German and other European sellers could potentially face problems selling their products across the new customs border to Great Britain and Northern Ireland.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-632316-identifier\">Until now, sellers could face Brexit relatively calmly thanks to the Amazon FBA and Pan EU program. In this program, the seller sends their goods to any European logistics center of Amazon. Subsequently, the e-commerce giant takes care not only of shipping, customer service, and more, but also of the demand-based distribution of goods within the European Union.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-321102-identifier\">However, after Brexit, Amazon will also stop this service for FBA goods and will not transport the goods of British sellers to the EU nor the items of European sellers to the United Kingdom. These changes have far-reaching consequences, as companies can no longer utilize the extensive logistics network of the online giant. This means:<\/p><div class=\"theme-block-list\"><ul class=\"theme-wp-block desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon gb-responsive-579356-identifier wp-block-list\"><li class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-733759-identifier desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon\">There will be <strong>no inventory transfers<\/strong> between the EU and the UK.<\/li><li class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-764588-identifier desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon\">After Brexit, Amazon will <strong>not fulfill FBA orders from the EU to the UK or vice versa<\/strong>; this also affects orders via the European Fulfillment Network (EFN).<\/li><li class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-210534-identifier desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon\">Brexit has no impact on pan-European orders outside the United Kingdom. <strong>Amazon FBA\/EFN will continue to make transfers of inventory between the European logistics centers<\/strong> and fulfill orders on the German, French, Italian, or Spanish websites.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-145685-identifier\">Here&#8217;s what companies can do now<\/h2><div class=\"wp-block-image desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon gb-responsive-181731-identifier\"><figure class=\"theme-wp-block alignright size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/d2bw95mh2ee04s.cloudfront.net\/prod\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/23143014\/amazon-fba-uk-brexit.jpeg\" alt=\"Amazon FBA in the UK? The simplest way to prevent upcoming problems is certainly to shut down the Amazon UK marketplace. However, this is likely to be the worst solution for many sellers, especially if a certain percentage of revenue is generated on amazon.co.uk.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-601805-identifier\">The e-commerce giant proposes two additional solutions to sell in both Pan EU and the UK after Brexit, without using the European Fulfillment Network:<\/p><div class=\"theme-block-list\"><ol class=\"theme-wp-block desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon gb-responsive-728199-identifier wp-block-list\"><li class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-62167-identifier desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon\"><strong>sending goods by the seller directly to an Amazon logistics center within the United Kingdom<\/strong>. This also means that sellers will have to split their inventory. Goods stored on the continent or on the British island will then no longer be available for orders from the respective other area.<\/li><li class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-768812-identifier desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon\"><strong>handling the shipping of orders through an external shipping service provider via FBM<\/strong>. In this approach, particularly with commercial goods, the question arises to what extent the loss of FBA status and the Prime logo will affect the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sellerlogic.com\/en\/blog\/amazon-buy-box\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chances for Buy Box<\/a>.<\/li><\/ol><\/div><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-522342-identifier\">Both solutions have in common that in the future, the marketplace seller will be responsible for transporting the goods across the new customs border and must also comply with all legal requirements. This may include, for example, a valid VAT identification number for the United Kingdom, EORI numbers, or certain licenses. The specific requirements that must be met also depend on whether there will be a trade agreement or not.
