As a seller, this international sales potential is enormous, but it can still prove to be complex and risky.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-482061-identifier\">Indeed, it is often emphasized how difficult selling abroad can be; this article, in contrast, shows how merchants can use Amazon as an easy international expansion catalyst. Here are a few reasons why this is the case:<\/p><div class=\"theme-block-list\"><ul class=\"theme-wp-block desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon gb-responsive-799335-identifier wp-block-list\"><li class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-454221-identifier desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon\">Amazon has approximately 300 million customers,<\/li><li class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-435341-identifier desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon\">in more than 180 countries and<\/li><li class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-104347-identifier desktop-bg-style-square xl-bg-style-square lg-bg-style-square md-bg-style-square sm-bg-style-square desktop-gb-has-no-icon xl-gb-has-no-icon lg-gb-has-no-icon md-gb-has-no-icon sm-gb-has-no-icon\">over 17 country domains (US, CA, MX, BR, FR, DE, UK, ES, IT, NL, TR, JP, AU, SG, IN, AE, SA).<\/li><\/ul><\/div><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-18996-identifier\"><strong>Myth #1: International Shipping is Expensive and Complex to Set Up<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-766533-identifier\">If you are reading these lines, you are very likely already selling products online, at least within your own country, and therefore have local contracts with carriers that you already know.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-18936-identifier\">Have you ever asked these business partners if they can ship internationally? Some of them probably can, but of course, this incurs higher costs and longer transport times.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-568716-identifier\">What if you could have regional warehouses in each destination country to reduce this customer-critical transport time? That may sound very expensive, but that is exactly what <a href=\"https:\/\/hellotax.com\/blog\/de\/amazon\/fba\/europa\/pan-eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Amazon offers merchants with the Pan EU solution<\/a>.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-190358-identifier\">This program allows you to send your products in bulk to any Amazon warehouse and then \u2013 depending on which country you are selling in \u2013 Amazon automatically takes care of distributing your products so that they can be shipped from the same country where the purchase was made!<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-996868-identifier\">For you, this means: no local logistical effort, competitive costs, and a great customer experience. In addition, your products are eligible for the &#8220;Amazon Prime&#8221; loyalty program (150 million users as of 2020) when using FBA and also have a higher chance of winning the very popular Buy Box.<\/p><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-624380-identifier\"><strong>Myth #2: When Doing Cross-Border Business, You Have to Translate All Your Products<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-630596-identifier\">Selling internationally requires that the content of your website be adapted to multiple foreign languages.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-463380-identifier\">If your catalog includes only a few products, the workload is quite manageable; however, if the total number of your active SKUs includes several hundred products, this can become a significant time investment. Amazon can help you get started with selling abroad \u2013 even though there are, of course, many other online translation services available.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-36471-identifier\">With the Amazon feature <a href=\"https:\/\/sellercentral.amazon.com\/gp\/help\/external\/202121570?language=de_DE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>Set Up International Listing Creation<\/strong><\/a>, you can instruct the e-commerce giant to transfer the product detail pages of your home country marketplace to some other European marketplaces.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-830823-identifier\">For all existing products, Amazon will automatically link your listings, synchronize the prices, and translate them!<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-487343-identifier\">In summary: With a few clicks, you can list products from your home marketplace in other countries push without having to translate the product page itself painstakingly! Such a tool is a great way to test some new countries with low setup costs.<\/p><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-628664-identifier\"><strong>Myth #3: Monitoring Exchange Rates is Mandatory When Selling Outside the Eurozone<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-331857-identifier\">However, adjustments for different marketplaces are continuously necessary. Depending on the home and destination country, you may also need to convert the prices into the local currency of the destination country.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-367738-identifier\">The most common case for a European seller is selling in the United Kingdom in British Pounds (GBP).<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-424351-identifier\">Even if the EUR\/GBP exchange rate shows only minor fluctuations, you could experience an unpleasant surprise depending on how your profit margin looks if you do not pay careful attention to the exchange rate.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-724263-identifier\">Here again, Amazon can take care of this task for you using the <a href=\"https:\/\/sellercentral.amazon.com\/gp\/help\/external\/202121570?language=de_DE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">international listing creation<\/a><strong> <\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-328213-identifier\">Once you have defined some pricing rules (e.g., increasing prices by X percent) between your home marketplace and the international marketplaces, Amazon automatically converts the prices into the foreign currency and adjusts them as needed.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-491109-identifier\">This automatic currency conversion can also be disabled if you prefer to define the prices yourself. Selling internationally on new marketplaces can significantly increase the complexity of inventory management: the more sales channels you manage, the more important the synchronization rate becomes.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-890100-identifier\">Amazon seems to be aware of this problem and offers various solutions to address it: The first solution is to use Amazon FBA, as mentioned above in #1. Inventory management is then handled by Amazon, and you no longer have to worry about it.<br>The second solution \u2013 if you prefer to ship the goods yourself \u2013 is to use the same SKU for a product in all countries. Amazon then automatically synchronizes the inventories.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-730569-identifier\">In fact, it is important to know that SKU inventories are shared across all Amazon countries within a zone, such as the EU or America. In other words, every time a product is sold in one country, its inventory decreases in all active countries as well.<\/p><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-742223-identifier\"><strong>Myth #5: International Business is Possible in Europe, but Unreachable in America<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-213118-identifier\">Crossing the Atlantic sounds exciting from a tourist&#8217;s perspective, but it is very complex to handle from an e-commerce perspective.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-190864-identifier\">Many additional barriers arise on this journey outside of Europe: shipping duration, import tax, customs, customer returns.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-559736-identifier\">These new barriers can \u2013 once again \u2013 be overcome thanks to the Amazon marketplaces.<br>Even if this may not be apparent at first glance: EU and US seller accounts can be synchronized with each other. Additionally, you can then benefit from the same features as if you were using &#8220;FBA&#8221; within an EU account.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-517098-identifier\">All you have to do is:<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-725417-identifier\">1) Create your US seller account,<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-827397-identifier\">2) Link your existing EU seller account with the newly created US account,<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-681003-identifier\">3) Set up the International Listing Creation feature to synchronize your EU products with existing ASINs in the USA,<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-211674-identifier\">4) Send your goods to an Amazon US warehouse.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-145383-identifier\">The icing on the cake: thanks to this &#8220;Atlantic bridge,&#8221; you are not limited to the USA, but can also operate in Mexico and Canada.<\/p><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-781314-identifier\"><strong>Myth #6: Anyone Who Wants to Sell Abroad Must Hire Bilingual Employees<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-381972-identifier\">Internationality is usually associated with foreign languages, especially in Europe, where 24 different languages are officially recognized by EU institutions.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-437538-identifier\">While English is usually spoken with foreign suppliers, local languages are often the only ones used when dealing with end consumers. Fortunately, one of the biggest advantages of e-commerce is that communication can usually take place via email or similar means. Written communication is very easy thanks to modern translation solutions like DeepL or Google Translate.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-258151-identifier\">Also, keep in mind that when using Amazon FBA, most of the customer support is handled directly by Amazon in the local language.<\/p><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-366112-identifier\"><strong>Myth #7: International Returns Are Complicated<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-763965-identifier\">E-commerce brings many advantages for both sellers and buyers, but when orders have defects, management can become very complex, especially with large products.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-678285-identifier\">When you add the variable &#8220;international&#8221; to customer service, management can become a real nightmare if you are not well prepared.<\/p><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-539497-identifier\">Unless you have reached a significant size and can hire multilingual customer service employees, a &#8220;plug-and-play&#8221; solution is again to use the Amazon Pan-EU program, which takes care of both customer service and the return of orders.<\/p><figure class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-image size-large gb-responsive-136017-identifier\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"844\" height=\"446\" src=\"https:\/\/d2bw95mh2ee04s.cloudfront.net\/prod\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/23140804\/international_business3.jpeg\" alt=\"How-to: How to Use Amazon Successfully to Expand Internationally!\" class=\"wp-image-11333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d2bw95mh2ee04s.cloudfront.net\/prod\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/23140804\/international_business3-407x215.jpeg 407w, https:\/\/d2bw95mh2ee04s.cloudfront.net\/prod\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/23140804\/international_business3-768x406.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/d2bw95mh2ee04s.cloudfront.net\/prod\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/23140804\/international_business3.jpeg 844w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 844px) 100vw, 844px\" \/><\/figure><h2 class=\"theme-wp-block wp-block-heading gb-responsive-525948-identifier\"><strong>Myth #8: Everything Must Be Started from Scratch for Each New Country<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"theme-wp-block gb-responsive-86067-identifier\">Opening a business in a new country comes with many barriers for newcomers that need to be overcome.
